Well, that's a bit of luck...

Good thing I didn't actually get around to opening up the jar of Peter Pan I bought the other day:

Salmonella outbreak due to peanut butter

I did have the code on the jar lid. So I'll send it back to ConAgra and get my money back. In the meantime, I need to go buy another jar of peanut butter...non Peter-Pan, I think, although it's my favorite. :P

Oooh. Not good. Yuk!

PEANUT butter?

it sounds like they're overreacting, but better to be safe.

I get that kind you have to refrigerate. Giant distributors have taken over most organic shit now too, though, and that spinach scare included the "organically grown" stuff.

I tried a jar of that, but it was super liquidy from the peanut oil, no matter what how much I stirred it or kept it cold. Plus the peanut oil got all over everything. :/

Yeah, I agree that sucks. The Adams Organic (made by smuckers) or the grind-your-own kind in smallish quantities are the only kinds I have found don't seem to do that.

Luckily, I use Jif peanut butter. :)

Yikes!! Good thing you noticed. Would not have been good otherwise.

Thanks for the warning. I went through our pantry and found 6 jars of Peter Pan with the number on the lid. Good thing we didn't use them.
