*warning, the below reaction post may contain naughty words and spoilers if you haven't seen the episode. Parents, shield your children's eyes.*
I just watched Turn Left, and asdasfgadgfOMG! While I really wasn't surprised with the plot device they used to make it a Doctor-lite episode, it was still heart-wrenching to see the whole direction the ever-deepening downward spiral the world took after the Doctor "died" (I put it in parenthesis because I knew he was going to be conveniently not dead by the end of the episode, 'cause there's two left to go).
While I found Donna somewhat annoying in 'The Runaway Bride', I have absolutely loved her this season. It was fantastic to see a strong female companion who is not in the least little bit interested romantically in the Doctor. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't object to the idea of romantic interest in companions - I am, after all, a pervy fangirl, so the brain does go there - but after 3 solid seasons of it, I needed a break. So, Donna, yay. And Catherine Tate's acting in this episode is superb - her reactions to the world falling apart around her, her railing against what's happening, all utterly wonderful. And then her realization that she has to die to fix things - awesomesauce, seriously.
And then RTD completely and utterly kicks it up a notch in the last couple of minutes of the show. The Doctor realizing something is very, very wrong, then running out to see Bad Wolf everywhere was good enough, but then, running into the TARDIS and getting the CLOISTER BELL! The old-school Whovian in me goes absolutely apeshit (As it does every time RTD trots out the Cloister Bell. I am admittedly weird that way).
And then the trailer kills me dead. I am here, typing, whilst being dead. I don't even care that Billie Piper's face looked really weird for whatever reason. I...am...just...dead. Thank you, RTD.
It's going to be a long, long, long week.
