I think it's a bit peculiar that the Mormon church poured money into supporting prop 8 when "omg the polygamists are coming!" is the slippery slope/domino effect argument used against recognizing gay marriage.
Really...as Jeff Rowland put it, "If you're against gay marriage then I have some advice for you -- don't go to gay weddings. It doesn't hurt you."
I mean it's not like people are going to go around forcibly gay marrying people who are not gay and do not want to be gay married. And as for the value, institution and sanctity of marriage...meh. It's always had more importance as a way of either a.) insuring healthy offspring b.) moving property and status around or c.) propagating religion. So let's not think too highly of the concept.
